Trafficking Has a Before
Human trafficking rarely begins at the moment exploitation occurs. There is often a before.
Before trafficking, there may be grooming. There may be attention, trust, gifts, promises, secrecy, manipulation, isolation, dependency, or gradually changing boundaries.
These behaviors may not look dangerous at first. That is why awareness matters.
When we only look for trafficking, we may miss what is happening before trafficking.
P.E.A.R.L. teaches you to recognize the before, because earlier awareness can create an opportunity for earlier intervention.
